I just got lucky buying a box of lamps. In between there was a battered LUX Sirius. It made the grey day shiny and I tried to fix it as gentle as possible.

All parts is there - but the needle was gone. The bottom was cut of  and riveted back on + soldered. Despite all the lamp works and I wont allow my self to be picky here.

Here you can see the city og Jelling where I found the lot. In the background you can see where Gorm den Gamle, a old King is burried and on the other side is yet a hill made for his wife, Thyra Danebod, a old queen.
The city existed up till now since 500 years BC as a steady city with houses and this was the King and Queen that introduced christianity to Danmark. Haral Blåtand was their son.

A fit place to find a LUX Sirius :D

Claus, it was Harald who introduced (read forced) christianity to the Danavälde. Tyra and Gorm kept themself to the real old gods.
But Harald moved his parents from their pagan mounds and gave them a christian burial retrospective.

    Great to see another Sirius!
    It looks nice enough.

Yes Harald did proclaime DK as a christian nation 2 years after his father died. At that time the main population was christian after years of preparation.

Do you btw have the meassure of the thickness of the cleaning-needle :?:

Yep. The Bluetooth symbol is a mix between H and B in runic inscriptions.

I've checked the needle on mine now.
Or what's left of it... it was broken!

    It's a small orifice, though.
I checked with a couple of other prickers, and the Primus 1020 fit nicely.
    That one is 0.15-0.16 mm.
A 0.18 mm doesn't enter, so I think you could use 0.15 mm. with confidence.
Gunsoo has made his own needle for an Optimus Sirius, so you could check with him.

By the way, how many panels does the mica globe use?
They look very few. Are they only four?

    Thanks for your trouble

Yep the globe has four windows and they fit exactly the stemms in the cage.

Windows is also called from a old norse word "vindauge" means a wind-eye for letting the smoke out of the roof.
I dont know about Windows 10 though :D

Wonder if its something homemade coil or later production :?: .

I Cant find other Lux Sirius but the Optimus-type nowhere to compare, than this Optimus from PiTu:

That is a very fine lamp, Claus. I love the over-engineering of the preheat cup filler and the fins on the vapouriser. What is the purpose of the part that protrudes from the fount near the rim?

The replacement of the fount bottom seems to have been very well done.

Phil, the part protruding is where you access the NRV.
Like on many stoves, they used this kind of NRV instead of the more common we know inside the pump tube.
You can see an example of that valve here.
As you see, it's pretty much the same kind of spring and pip from the more common NRV, just that it unscrews from the outside of the tank.

...Hmmm... :-k So still connected via a tube to the end of the pump presumably?....Bit fiddly, but then I suppose when they designed them they never thought people would still be using/repairing them donkey's years later?..
...Have you still got that motor by the way there Christer?

Yes, it's a small tubing soldered to the end of the pump tube, running to the seat of the NRV which are soldered on the opposide side into the tank.
I would assume that this is a more costly system to produce.

Which motor is it you have in mind, PB?
