Here is a reference to some advertisements for Kerona Lamps in New Zealand. *Moderators edit: Here's an uploaded screenshot of the ad in question, courtesy of the National Library of New Zealand: Other adverts date from early 1920s through to 1930. My own Kerona is "engraved" KERONA N.Z. and is a 2 burner with an extended pump body. My own Kerona is "engraved" KERONA N.Z. and is a 2 burner with an extended pump body.
Noticed in the Nz truth paper the adds went to about 1930 even in the last 4 years giving away a free stove no 50. Don't know when the double one came out and yours has a different vent top also . Bob
Bungsy, hmmm.....strange lamp you have. Looks like a Kerona married to a Nagel Chase burner assembly. Looks nice though! /Conny
It's a fine lamp, but i agree with Conny that it appears to be a hybrid. Some better photographs of the burner system would help, Jeff.
You are quite right, it is a Nagal Chase burner unit. As for being a hybrid, not so sure. The Truth newspaper adverts in the later 1920s show what appears to be the extended pump housing, and a larger/different upper assembly. I have assumed that when the Wellington company bought the Patents, it changed the engraving to include the "N.Z." and also quite possibly the burner, as the original was only around 80CP. But yes, she sure does light up the room.
Hi Bungsy, Interesting! There seems to be a double mantle burner on the "other" Kerona lamp one would find among the Kerona ads. It´s hard to tell from the poor drawing what kind of burner unit though. I´m not sure the original Nagel Chase shade holder on your lamp would fit to that same shade/vent cowl that is on the "original" Kerona lamp. /Conny
