Hello all. So this lamp has turned up and yes you guessed it I have no idea what I've got. So a little research later and here I am. The globe/glass is after market and the box is toast but other than that it's complete. Font has a small rust spot as dose the green lid. An idea of value would help as I can't find any information also what globe would I need? Any help would be appreciated.
It takes a Coleman 288 globe. The value is what anyone will pay on any particular day. Valuations are deprecated on this forum. A little research, classifieds, completed listings on eBay etc and you'll get a ballpark figure I'll happily make you an offer!
We don't do values on this site. However these lanterns are not uncommon in the UK and I have had maybe half a dozen down the years. They are a very well made pleasing lamp and yours looks to be in pretty good condition. Nice find. ::Neil::
It's worth up to £1000 - in the same way my broadband speed is up to 76Mbps. I'd hang on to that globe which will be great if you just want to provide general illumination of an area without dazzling everybody in sight. The disadvantage will be lighting it without being able to see what's going on inside the globe. Yer pays yer money...
Nice score. The 339 gives a lot of light (350cp) in quite a small form factor. You should be able to find a suitable clear Coleman or off-brand globe for about a fiver. Keep it clean and store it dry and it will provide reliable service for many years.
Thank you all for your help and friendly reply's. My biggest passion is camping in the Volkswagen so perhaps I will have a go at firing it up. You never know I might bring it down to Newark and combine the two. Thanks' again.
Nice find! Just treat the rust before it gets worse! I had to strip & repaint 3 of my coleman lanterns because of it
Otherwise known as a Coleman No. 4 Globe, I have no idea why I typed 288, other than it uses a No. 4.
