Welcome aboard and there are Blanchard lamps shown in the lamp gallery and there is Blanchard paperwork shown in the reference library.

Yes there are a few of us here that have examples of the lamps and we pretty well know what was made and some idea of the history behind the people who made them. Not the easiest of lamps to work on and restore to function but once you understand how they are constructed and have the right tools they can be made to work very well. ::Neil::

Sirs could you please explain the the function or the working princilple of the this lamp. Whether same type fuction like any normal Petromax kerosene lamps? Because I don't have the burner, only the oil tank with the pipe ,pump and the knob is intact. My blanchard's 1370 burner is misssing. I want to modify and reconstruct using normal Petromax burner. I would like to see the design of the burner. Thank you very much

Yes if the working principle of the Blanchard matches with Petromax or other kerosene pressure lamps it will be a victory.

Here is a photo of a Blanchard burner courtesy of Neil McRae.

The basic operation of the burner is the same as a Petromax but the design is rather different. I suppose you could make an adapter to connect a Petromax burner to a Blanchard pendant. There have been other Blanchard/Petromax hybrids e.g.

One thing to check is whether or not the tank holds pressure or has stress cracks. I have four of these pendants and every one is cracked to some degree. The cracks can be repaired with soldering or a tank liner but it is something to bear in mind.

Yes Blanchard burners are unique to the brand and nothing else is even close. They work the same as any other kero burner but in this case the generator and mixing chamber is the whole of the burner casting. If you are missing the complete burner head then you will have to adapt another lantern head to fit the threads of the Blanchard valve block. It will be an interesting thing to see. ::Neil::

i studied the blanchard burner photos..and i have compared the normal petromax burner's with it.but iam wondering how to fix the petromax burner.Because petromax burner is fitted with pipes which comes from below.that is the tank is at the bottom.the pipes goes up and u turns to the BURNER downward and the mantel holder.whereas in case of blanchard, the tank hangs upward above and pipes comes downward and there union joins and burner faces downward with the mantel holder.please advice.

In general that is the difference between a (storm) lantern and a hang lamp.
IF: you should/could use something from a donut lamp like the petromax 834 lamp.

Or you try to find another Blanchard hang lamp with a bad tank but a good burner.

The only way will be to convert a lantern head to the type used on table lamps and then make an angled block to screw the valve block into so that it can be side fed. You will have to lose the original Petromax fuel feed and shut off mechanism but that will not affect the working of the lamp. You will then end up with a lantern head sitting up inside the two arms of the pendant. A fair bit of work but possible I guess. ::Neil::
