I have a manometer that belong to a Radius 119 from the early 30´s. It´s stuck to the highest setting although I can easily move the needle with a finger so the spring is all well and dandy I guess. I was a bit reluctant to do any novice fettling before I check with you first. What is your suggestion to have the needle set to zero.? Any suggestions highly appreciated. Thanks Henrik
Sometimes the dial get knocked out of place, even if this one looks a bit too extreme... I would just simply remove the cowl and glass, then put something small and pointy firmly againt the pin in the centre to hold it still while forcing the dial back to zero. If that doesn't help, I guess the manometer is out of help.
Thanks for your kind response Christer. Well, I tried what you suggested but alas, to no avail. These things are very delicate to fettle with and I will not go any further. I found a place where they offer services to fine mechanical instruments (barometers etc). I will call them tomorrow and if the price suggestion is right I will send them the manometer for repair. Let´s hope it will survive!
It has been fixed The guy who repaired it said something had been bent. Can´t recall what the part is called. Anyway, it´s never fun to have something that is not working and although a manometer is somewhat unnecessary it´s a nice feature.
