I'm looking at buying a lantern, but the seller is kind of looking at me to find out the shipping costs, other than usps I don't know where to look. It isn't a pressure lantern if that opens up any more options.

Can anyone recommend any couriers or resellers/agents?

Ellie, for sending lamps overseas for the past 15 months I've used ipostparcels/UKMail, They're cheap and quick and I've never had a parcel lost or damaged (could be tempting fate there!). Only downside is they don't always call on day booked and I have to phone the local depot to rearrange or take parcel in to Aberdeen myself.

Hi Jean, you must have misread my post, I'm looking for a courier to collect from the US and deliver to the UK.

I will look at ipost Jean, if they have a depot in Inverness I may try them, couriers coming from Aberdeen tend to get lost.

I still get nearly faultless service with MyHermes both coming and going, only issue is the odd damaged item coming my way, but it's always down to poor packing. Getting faster too!

My favourite is still the lamp that came wrapped in Seventies wallpaper and gaffer tape. I can't think of anything that would be appropriate wrapping material for! Luckily it was just broken glass and a I got a partial refund.

Now, I'm getting mixed up, Jean, you've been using them to send overseas, not in the UK. Yes, the prices are very good, cheaper than my usual overseas courier.

    Thanks :)

USPS I think is the way to go to receive larger packages from America.

Simply go to the USPS official website. You can put in an estimate for the box size and guessed weight and get a price for shipping.

Inform the seller that the customs forms can be completed online through ebay or USPS online and that she can simply call USPS and they'll come to pick up the package.

Some sellers on ebay in America think its a hassle to ship abroad not realizing how easy it is .

I was told if you use PayPal for payment the seller in the US can simply click on "create USPS shipping label" and get a discount from USPS.
Be sure to counter check the shipping address.
There is no cheaper way (...I know of) than USPS for sending from the US.

    Hi,

Thanks everybody, but it looks like this isn't going to happen anyway.

I just had a box with 5 Coleman lanterns delivered 2 weeks ago. This was USPS and was $131 USD.

USPS is the cheapest way from the USA to UK

Just be happy its not Canada, their prices are far higher.

To ship one lantern from the USA to UK should be anywhere from $65-$75 with a globe.

I believe you no longer get a discount for booking online on USPS.
