    Hi
Does anyone know anything about an OR-MA brand lantern. It looks very much like a petromax and is of brass construction with a red enamelled steel cap.It has no other information on it exept what is in the photo's.I thought it would be easy to find on the internet and only took photo's of the name.
    Thank you
    Andrew

Usually the Chinese ones have mostly a steel construction so if this one is from there it is of a better quality than the others. The shop selling it wanted a farms price for it but have since dropped the price to half a farm after I pointed out some missing parts and a couple of cracks in the brass.

Other than Hong Kong I don't know much about these. I suspect made in the TingKwon factory which is part of the Lea Hin Group. They made a variety of brands some of which are reasonable quality. ::Neil::

    Hi
I went to have another look at at the lantern and decided to take it home with me.This is what it looks like now and it is the flame shot on the right compared to a petromax lantern.I did not use the original globe for the first light up.

I would have taken it home to - looking that complete with original parts all over, glass inclusive.
It is the first OR-MA I ever have seen. I have only seen the name on my list and it does actually look like a decent lamp.
Do you have any idea of the age :?: Hasag used that type of writing before the ww2.

    Hi
It was most likely made in Hong Kong as Mack burner said. The control wheel looks very similar to the aeroplane lantern's control wheel which was made in Hong kong.I have no idea of the age.

    Andrew,

A range of brand names seems to have come from the same source. Take the hood off and look for other brand names stamped on the burner, etc. If it came wit the box you may also find that the tape used to seal it may have a brand name printed on it.

I take it that there is no pre-burner on the other side of the lantern pictured?

I may have something similar tucked away and will make a better comparison if you post more photos!

The word is Glory. I have two Or-Ma brand lanterns and a Glory. The quality is quite reasonable; much better than Butterfly and Sea Anchor.

I was wondering if Glory would appear somewhere in the lantern.

My 'Stenly' has some Glory markings, and I've come across other brand names too.

Anecdotally the 'Stenly' version was sold in Australia about 50 years ago. Also apears in South African auctions at times. Mine is unfired and in the original box with accessories, although the chome is starting to separate from the bottom of the tank.

Would it please be possible to put these images in the reference gallery?

    Cheers,

    Phil,
Do you perhaps know the origin of the Or-ma and the Glory?
