i was watching this lamp on ebay out of interest,it finally made over £1300! was it a sekker / buyer here? whats the most youve paid for a lamp? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tilley-Lamp-ML-93-/262372434900?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=SykQm1q%252Bk%252FCqEOgnIq3pNecjGv4%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
....Does anyone know if that is a 'Tilley' stand it sits on at all?...... ...If not it looks in keeping.... with the rivets there?..
Yes it did! Mind you a 300X went for over £120 earlier - even though it had been stripped it wasn't even polished...
It looks like a lamp there is pretty exposed to replica-production and difficult to verify if so. To that price I wouldnt dare buying it - so I didn't It also looks a great bit like the russian Lunar LK Lander Claus C
I noticed a Coleman 275 'Turd' reached the astronomical figure of £17.50 last night - and that was sans globe, too...
... :-/ ...is that derogatory term referring to it's lovely Russett brown colouring?.... ...or is there a deeper meaning here I can't quite fathom?..
Not really the colour. It is a term applied to one these lamps some years ago by one or two US collectors because of the difficulty they were having making it work right so it is a reference to quality. They are actually not that bad but the name stuck. ::Neil::
