most expensive Tilley ever?

    i was watching this lamp on ebay out of interest,it finally made over £1300! was it a sekker / buyer here? whats the most youve paid for a lamp?

    Yes it did!

    Mind you a 300X went for over £120 earlier - even though it had been stripped it wasn't even polished...

    It looks like a lamp there is pretty exposed to replica-production and difficult to verify if so.
    To that price I wouldnt dare buying it - so I didn't ;)
    It also looks a great bit like the russian Lunar LK Lander :D

    :shock: I noticed a Coleman 275 'Turd' reached the astronomical figure of £17.50 last night - and that was sans globe, too... :whistle:

    Not really the colour. It is a term applied to one these lamps some years ago by one or two US collectors because of the difficulty they were having making it work right so it is a reference to quality. They are actually not that bad but the name stuck. ::Neil::

    I think the difficulty arose from the Schrader-type valve Coleman had used on the 275...
