The cap to these is both fill and pressurizing inlet (via a separate pump). A metal ball floats in the inner section of the cap as an NRV. That ball does not move as freely as it probably should. The material surrounding that ball has a uniformly greyish cast that could be corrosion,or some composition, with a brass sleeve in the center for the ball to seal against. What might be a safe way to clean that pocket the ball is sealed into? Thanks
Hello, Fuel usually dries in the cap and after years of sitting can varnish it up completely. An overnight soak in denatured alcohol will make removal a lot easier. I use a soft bristled metal brush to clean the larger areas and a wooden toothpick or small wire to work the ball around, do not forget to check the orifices in both parts of the cap. These balls work perfectly sometimes but other times they leak a little pressure regardless of what you do, once the filler is screwed down its a positive seal and will not leak.
I had a similar problem with my Coleman Torchlight. Soaked the cap in carb cleaner for a couple of hours - squeeky clean. Terry
Thanks all. I finally figured out last night that it is just crud around the ball. I'll start it soaking today and work on it this evening. Still fiddling with my camera program too. Garden to take care today.
