    Hello everyone
I recently bought an old Preway Lantern and would like to know what to use to clean the old oil stains on the fount.

Ok thanks tankie. I was just worried the paint would come off. Would denatured alcohol work? Not sure I have any carb cleaner at home.
Thanks Jeff nice to be aboard.

Carb cleaner will most likely damage the paint. Denatured alcohol will work, but will take some time. You can also try some penetrating oil like Kroil. WD 40 is also a possibility. Apply the oils to a bit of rag or paper towel.

You'll really like the Preway when you get it working.
