G'day all, I don't post my lamps often any more but I thought I would make an exception for this one as there is a little side story to it. This lamp is simply magnificent. Not including the hood and bail arm it is made completely from brass apart from one washer and the pricker arm. It is a single mantle kerosene lamp with Preston loop. The metho cup has a loop that slide over one of the frame standards which allows it to swing aside so you can access the frame retaining screw. There is little or no chance of losing the metho cup with this system. The lamp is quite heavy and is obviously durable because it is in very good shape. The hood I would say has 90% of it's dark blue ceramic. The globe is incorrect as the original globe was broken. This globe is unmarked and will stay with this lamp as I think it suits the lamp. The little side story is, I bought this lamp from the Grandson of the original Handi Works owner. I thought that was cool.
That is a nice little lamp Matty and probably not seen that often in Australia where I presume work-light was needed most. You just keep finding jewels Those big vent-holes wouldnt they let loads of mantlekilling bugs in?? or is there a mesh inside I cant see? Claus C
I am a dill! It’s been pointed out to me that Matty already said (above) that this lantern has the Preston loop generator. I looked at the photos and didn’t read the text well enough. My apologies for the distraction. Tony
