    ...Hi Michel,

    .....Very lovely ! :-)

...Is it be fair to say that this example would have been at the high end of Table Lamps at this time?

......It looks to me as though a lot of work and design has gone into it ; (even though to my mind it is 'French' in it's lines) ;) ..

...But would this be reflected in the price at all?

...What I'm trying to say is, would this lamp have been one of the more 'Exclusive' ones ?... :-k

Hope this is fairly clear... :/

    Regards,
    pb

Hum, I am afraid not to be sure to understand :-(
Do you means this lamp was pretty expensive ?
I think so, this lamp was certainly not the lamp of "everybody".
    Certainly not for simple workers.

    ...Hi Michel,

...Yes, that is most of what I was trying to get at! ...To me it looks, for the time it was made, as though it would have cost a lot of money?

...Is that the case for a lot of the early French lamps?

...In general terms would a top French lamp have cost more than other makes of lamp at that time?.. :-k

...They look more 'Exclusive' to me... more 'hand-made' than 'mass-produced'....

...I hope you can get the drift of what I am harping on about..

    regards,
    pb

    Hi Pod
    Ok, You are right.
obviously, I am not able to compare the prices with the french or the foreign production. But as you said, ,small handmade production means high price. This activity was all in the East of Paris. This was an anthill of very small workshops (Bré, Guenet, Liotard Ainé, etc ...)
Only the SAAE Liotard frères ( Société Anonyme des Anciens Etablissements Liotard Freres) with the LILOR brand, have been able to do such an "industrial production" with the factory (22, rue de Lorraine, Paris)
That's why the Lilor production is the easier to find, nowadays.
    Easier doesn't means easy ;-)
