A few of weeks ago I went squid fishing and took my AL21 along to light the water.

Unfortunately it sprung a leak and lost pressure slowly, and annoyingly - right where the pump is attached to the tank.

It appears that the paint job I did when I restored it was enough to keep it sealed, but over time the paint gave way to the holes behind.

So today I put on my bravest soldering attitude and gave it a go:

I'm happy now - I took it down to lock up the chooks and locate a few rabbits that I need to get rid of.

    Cheers

Nice soldering Tony. The AL21's i know shows sign of cracking in the solder right there, my own too, but they dont leak - just shows a crack.
Did you grind the soldering down after or are you just (lucky) good ;) Did you ex. leave a fat layer of solder to support a bit?
    Happy hunting :D

I did use a Dremel to trim the solder. But I didn't do a bad job in the first place, I'm getting better at soldering  .

The soldering could maybe be a way to support this weakness a bit :-k .
This is an example of this crack one of my restored lamps, though not leaking.

As long as it holds pressure, I wont fix it of course, but some fine day I might have to.
