I have an R1 (earlier model with wooden handle and wire mesh gauze 'mantle') and I am trying to find out which end of the spigot tube - the long threaded end or the short threaded end - should be screwed into the burner body.

Mine works just as well either way round! However the images I have seen appear to show the longer threaded end being inserted into the burner. I can't find a diagram showing these parts in section.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

I've never had this problem but one would assume that the longer thread screws into the burner body and the shorter one is for the nut that holds the mantle in place.

No doubt someone will tell me if that's incorrect...

Thanks, David. Since writing, I've actually found one or two more images that seem to confirm your understanding.
