... Just received a 'Tracked' parcel with a knife cut at one end.......Obviously been opened...... Globe was smashed, even though it was well protected... ... just came back from the doctor who has given me auntie bionics for a lung infection so after a coughing fit and a lie down rang Royal Mail who were actually very helpful.... but the sender has to do the claim as they paid for the postage... ...Anyway, I thought I'd have a moan as I feel right rough :-(
yep, been there, with our royal mail. The sender has to do the complain, although he/she had packed it very well. I remember two rules that where written in a very thick rule book (according to the postman): 1) glass should always be packed in wood, so a wooden crate like thingy. 2) it should be packed in such a way that it can be dropped from a meter high without damage.
Haha Wim! You made me think of a crate I saw for transporting a radio transmitter power valve (tube for the US cousins). How I wish I had a picture. It had a cotton sling containing the valve itself, held around it by small tensioning springs, as a cradle. Then heavier springs went from that cradle out to the 8 corners of a big wooden crate! That should do it. A pity you were shipping at least 8x the volume and maybe twice the weight. Should be Post Office proof though.
