While discovering and reorganising the lamp sheds. I came across this Tilley 246 lantern. Bottom mark is 1096. It was in the junk pile while the tank was split at several points. While removing the useful parts I noticed that the tank wasn't marked at all. Is it normal that Tilley didn't mark their tanks ? And doing so making an unmarked lantern.
Well it doesn't say Tilley. It looks like a Tilley. New burner design, vaporizer, alu cock, alu pump.
Looks like an X246B tank which would be commensurate with a 1096 datestamp. Tilley did those fuel warning stickers, too. I guess it was missed for some reason when it came to the tank side stamping...
Yeahh, but it is chrome plated. Would it not be stamped before plating ? So it would have miss the stamping station but not the plating station ?
