Anchor lamp the NRV pump section had to improvise getting it out,(failed dunk test ) sprayed with WD40 and pumped it through NRV Home made tool worked ok once the WD40 got in there. Now the question is do I replace the whole NRV assume you cant get spare seal /pip . Ordered one anyway.

Contact Base-Camp as they seems to have the NRV as spare part at £ 4.50.

That's a fairly standard NRV design so you should be able to get a pip from the fettle box. Might be an idea to replace the lead washer too.

Thank you Michael and Nils ordering now .
Another point i need to check is that a lead packing at base of control valve, connecting to the tank ?, I can get good pressure in tank but still a minuscule amount of air through the tip , new needle/tip ? thanks again .

    Michael,
the tip/needle isn't meant to be a valve. If there's air leaking when the needle pokes out you rather should repair the spring loaded fuel valve at the bottom of the fuel pickup tube. It is driven by the excenter via a pushrod.
And the lead washer shall be replaced always when you disassembled the vaporizer because otherwise you won't be able to achieve the correct position when mounting again.
    BR, Martin

    Michael,

Having recently restored a complete "rust job" be aware that the quality of the lamp is not as good as that of a Tilley.

www.hurricanelamps.co.uk stock anchor lamp spares as did Maidstone Angling Centre a little while back.

You may find the followuing link useful:

Yes its petromax but the workings are virtually the same.

    hope this helps

Thanks Bill The Fettle box was kind enough and willing to make me some seals up . But I think I need
more than a few bits, now that I know about the lead washers etc .I will give Maidstone a ring tomorrow kinda local to me . Yes good stuff CCF the petromax
looks Identical. Also agree the quality of Tilley.
Like Christmas today Apart from an unused x246 I received this fella in a smelly and grim condition . Many thanks for info

I think it is brilliant to see and hear the anchor one running. The other unmarked one, flames where getting outside the mantle?.

The new one might be a 500cp version. In that case you probably have a to small mantle. 350cp mantle?

The Anchor lanterns are cheap but usually work well if you take care of them. That is, store them dry and avoid rust in the tank.

I worked on a friends Anchor 950 earlier this week. It had been stored for about 20 years and had suffer some rust with a stucked NRV due to rust in the tank.

Your new lantern very probably came from the same factory as your Anchor. The jet should be marked with a size or a part number that can looked up.

Yes, your mantle may be too small, but adjusting the air gap and the screw on the U tube may solve any issues with burning outside the mantle.
