The heat from the chimney accumulates under the hat.

 

The handle isn't - that's for sure...

 

Well i havnt tried it yet but im sure heat would present itself as a problem , beside the handle problem that David mentioned. Im making a shade out of an old electric outdoorlamp and noticed that the previous hole fits exactly on the top. Ill cut the hole out to standard size soon
