Hi, Found this lamp recently and wondering does anybody know what the markings on the top nut, 38/363/1002, would mean? The lamp is Hasag and there's no other markings in the lamp other than "Hasag" stamped in the tank/fount. I believe this is post war DDR version. Original glas missing from the picture, but I took it out for the first test after service. Br, Tommi
Hi, you are right: This lantern is a post-war GDR made model. It is very similar (although not equal) to the older Hasag 351L. I like them because they run quiet and reliably. The stamping on the top nut is a quality mark. You can find the explanations here in Wikipedia (unfortunately in German only). On your lantern the early mark of the highest level is stamped (S). However, on most of them you will find the (1Q) sign instead. Regards, Martin
Thanks for clarification Martin! This particular lamp is interesting as everything inside is looking like unused: regulator, air tubes, jet, vapouriser and burner. The original glass was slightly reshaped from the top, which suggests that something has happened with the vaporiser/burner and there's been excessive heat inside the lamp shaping the glass. Looks like the lamp has been unused since the new parts were fitted decades ago. Cheers, Tommi
Tommi, can you please make some more close-up photos from your lantern and put it all in the reference gallery? I think that it's worth it: From your second picture I assume that unlike most other lanterns of that model it has a Preston-looped vaporizer. And the spirit preheater cup also seems to be odd. However I think that it is all original because this Preston-looped vaporizer and the preheater cup with the asbestos wick were also used in other types of GDR made lanterns. Regards, Martin
