one of the major lamps on my bucket list is finally ticked off,i have just got a tilley wl ,needs a gallery and glass but thats the easy cheap bit. just a few left now,br,donut and a flounder....
Should be more than 6 VL to find. There were five in the 1920s which had a slightly different shaped vase. So the complete collection would be 11. ::Neil::
Tell us more Neil. Are there any illustrations, were they a completely different shape or just slightly different. I give up, it was going to be difficult enough finding the 6 we all know about but eleven..............!
Just the six colours will do me for now. I'll leave the different vase shapes for the next lifetime...
I was wrong should be 6 colours for 1 + 5 (slightly different vases) = 36 combinations. But who knows if they made every colour for every vase type...
I feel sure that Neil meant that there was one slightly different vase style in the 1920s which had five different colours, thus making a final total of 11 vases for the complete collection.
Don't worry, it's all academic anyway, since, as far as I'm aware, no-one has yet managed to collect just the six colours never mind anything else, be it 11, 36 or 66 combinations. Most folk seem happy enough to own just one...
The older vases have a slightly different bottom profile. There was a slightly damaged one in the collection of the late Roger Price but when I went back to see about prizing it loose from Valerie it had gone. Yes 11 in total. six colours but no black in the 1920s. There were actually variations in the galeries and burners as well with older examples having the silent burner type but that is not really an excuse for chasing more of these down. Academic really because I don't think I have ever seen more than three with any collector. I count myself lucky to have two plus a repro and I can't see me spending to get any more. ::Neil::
