If you wait enough and be patience for a long time, sometimes you are lucky. This week, I find a real Petromax 830, with the large fount and not the chinese crap . The lantern is in good condition, no cracks, only some dents, equiped with the original 300HK Needle and jet. I only need a correct mantle.
That is in very nice condition for a late 1930s lantern. A great find and one I am also waiting for. ::Neil::
I can scratch all your lamps whith the date you want. Personally I get the idea that way to much markings like these pop up lately. Esspecially since somebody wrote this on a forum. I still have a hard time to think that somebody manually scratches tank bottoms at the production rates in those years.
Hi Wim, I personally think that these manual scratches reporting the dates are attendible in a certain way. I get your point about "falsification" due to the growing market of this type of collectibles. But I also think that in some cases there is no chance of falsification. I acquired many old petromax by local listings and these lamps belonged to people that doesn't know anything about these lamps, most of them were their grand parents objects. On almost every old petromax I see these markings, with a really similar style. For me they're attndible. Obviously if I buy a lamp by an ebay trader the story changes, so chances of falsification are plausible. Nicola
