My younger daughter had a conversation this morning with her seven year old son - my grandson, Will. It went as follows:- Lucy - Do you know who won the election? Will - Yes, Donald effin' Trump! They talked about how sometimes not-so-nice people win, but how it's important to stay kind and to be nice to people because that will win in the end. Will listened and then put his hand on her shoulder and sat quietly...
How many 'nice' people ever get to be candidates? The choices, as one blogger wrote, are often between a louse and a flea. Commonalities: http://www.eureferendum.com/blogview.aspx?blogno=86274
first i will pleaded the 5th on a comment here but really we had to choose from one of the lesser 2 evils we had;but on another note why not give this guy a chance to see if he can turn things around here as we did not what another 8 years of the same bull crap we had'lies and deceit ;plus the fact of another lying and cheating person who only wanted the election for her self; yes all politicians lie to get what they want and tell us the moon is make out of cheese ;the fact is really that so many just might loose there freebies and have to finally get a job ;as most of us here are really tired of paying for the ones that are lazy ;sorry the gravy train and come to the end ;
I reckon we're going to see more anti-establishment candidates get elected in European countries in the near future too. People are just fed up with being lied to and stolen from. I'm skeptical that it will achieve any lasting meaningful change, though. I agree with the great H. L. Mencken's views on government and politicians. (and those of Mises, Rothbard, Hoppe, etc.) James Corbett also gives very level headed factual analyses.
Remember, we are dealing with human nature. Something for nothing... I'm retired and I've watched health insurance go up $50.00 a month in 2016, and now it will go up $21.00 more a month in 2017... The wife and I got a .3 percent cost of living adjustment for 2017. In the meantime my state, federal, and property taxes are scheduled to go up, too. My wife and I are both in our 70's now and, for us, it doesn't make a hellva lot of difference but I think of the next generation and one after that. They will have the hard times unless something is down now. Let's give the new guy on the block a chance. He will have four years to either prove himself or hang himself. I will now dismount my soapbox and get back to pressure lamps, after all, that's what this site is all about.
