Hello everyone ! This nice 1321, stamped AI on the bottom was manufactured in 1944, and is an alcohol fueled lantern. the burner system is basicly the same as on the 1020 kerosene model, but with a brass restriction in the air tube and a large hole alcohol jet. further more the rinse needle rod is a two part one with a mesh screen. The 1321 looks very much like an 1020 but is infact quite different, the glass stand is different and unique for both the 1321 and 1320 as they have more and bigger air holes in the bottom. and the fount used on the 1321 is actually from an 1081, as the 1020 never had a quick starter. The glass cylinder on this one is unusual in that way that is was made in France. Frederik
Nice one Frederik. It's good to see it is still set up for alcohol. It is interesting to note the base of the globe cage. I had always assumed it used the same cage as the 1081 as it also has the large holes, but the small holes are in a different position. I wonder what difference it made?
Yes you are right, the 1321 base seems to be a 1020 with extra holes, but the 1081 base is totaly different, 981 & 1081 is the only ones with holes on the outside the collar, Frederik
Another Primus lantern in museum condition. I'm so green with envy as every Primus lantern I've come across in NZ has seen better days. Perhaps one day I will stumble on a fine example.
