Is there any timescale yet for the new version? - I thought it was going to be scheduled for last month...
Exactly! And I am not sure Ross have either. But the last plan was somewhere around the turn of the year. But things tend to be postponed.
Then you're in for a chock later on, Matt. Nah. It won't be that a big change. And besides I know that you have made some posts on CCS without any problems (I hope), so you're already acquainted to the new format.
Urm, I wouldn't say without problems. I think one of the best things I've seen about the stove site is that you can tag someone in a post. I wouldn't have a clue how to do that, I only knew it could be done when Tony tagged me and I got a notification that I had been tagged.
Um, well that was November 2015 and as we're just about to go into 2017, it seems appropriate to ask whether any progress has been made and if it's going to be any time soon...
There has been some progress. A test site has been up for a pretty long time now, etc. However I doubt that we will see anything happen in the nearest future, but I hope Ross will chip in and tell you more.
CPL will become 'read only' around mid-March. The 'Open Forum' will remain open but any posts in there from that time on will be lost when we move to CPLv2. I will keep members updated via that forum during the move. Registration & subscriptions will also be locked down at this time. All the members & posts will be imported into the new CPLv2. The new forum will then be configured, customised & tested. Once this is complete this site will be closed down & the new one will appear in it's place. All existing subscriptions will be valid up until the end of their term. Unfortunately the auto-renewal will be lost in the process so subscribers will need to sign up again when their current subs expire, should they wish. Renewals will be automatic again on the new subscription.
Woo Hoo! I have to say I liked the old formats but, using CCS on the new format has been a transformation! It's no small task I know, best of luck for the "Big Switch" Ross&Co! Alec.
Ross I congratulate you for all the effort you've put into this site. CCS is excellent; and I'm looking forward to the new CPL. These moves from one platform to another are fraught, so I hope it all goes well. A brief note to Members. Be patient, and considerate of the poor bastards that have to do the changeover: you will be rewarded with an excellent site. Cheers Tony
Thanks Tony! My work here is more background technical & intermittent. It will be full on from the lock down for me & one of our 3rd party people. Then as usual it will be Christer doing all the day to day work with some better tools to make things easier. I don't know where CPL would be without him!
Oh, please... Seriously, though. It's really nothing to it. This site is quite easy to moderate and administrate compared to others. But thanks for the kind words! It will be nice with the change.
