I have a delicate battle on my hands...... My collection of pressure lamps has now grown and I would like to move some of my nicer examples out of the shed and into the house. When broaching this delicate subject with she who must be obeyed it was a case of "Light the blue touchpaper and retire to a safe distance"........ A larger shed/workshop is a mere pipe dream at the moment. Have any other forum members had experience of this and how did you conduct negotiations?
The porch .....a good compromise.but it could be because I don't have a shed! tell her it is the next hot interior design trend and you want to get a jump on it!!!!!good luck.
Well, I hate to rub it in @Scouter Bill but nearly every lamp I buy ends up in the house. There's a few in the shed either for spares or fettling, but anything I'm keeping stays in the house. The large majority of my storm lantern type lamps, are in my bedroom, I have a shelf set at just the right height around the top of my room, this is now at capacity and any new ones have to replace an old one, but the total number for just that shelf is 41. I also have a little room off to the side of my bedroom, in the space above the garage and this also houses a large part of my collection, mainly stoves though. Anything else gets pride of place somewhere in the house.
Just keep the good ones in the house about 150+ of them the rest in the lamp shed sorta like spares or doubles etc . Bob
Matt and Lamp Doctor you are both lucky! Maybe I should just put them up in the house whilst she is out....... could go along the lines of "To preserve the life of your lamps they must be stored at a constant room temperature..."
Why not start with a nice shiny one 'the boss' likes? Once you have established base camp in this way, further additions can be introduced from time to time - stealthily! Once there are a few lamps around the place, the only comments are likely to be 'is that a new one" or 'I have not noticed that one before'...
