    Greetings,

I'm attempting to refire my recently acquired AGM 288. When doing so though, I can only get the Mantles to burn "poorly", at best and they pulse. I can get some improvement, when I rotate the Pricker, but they just won't "take-off" and burn as they should. I've preheat the Generator with a torch and attempted the lighting after doing so and that showed no improvement.
I'm able to pressurize the Fount sufficiently and without the Generator in place, Fuel squirts through the system quite well, when the Fuel/Air Control Valve is opened.

Am I lighting the Lantern properly. (Typical open Valve 1/4 turn and attempt lighting, then open full, after which.)

Do I have a clogged Generator? If so, how do you clean one, or is it ready for the scrap pile and needs to be replaced?

    Thanks!
    Steve

Probably a poor generator. They can be cleaned out but you have to remove the pricker control and then maybe the pricker rod and packing will drop out downwards. Probably need a few heat and quench tries first though. A lot of faffing around and a new Colemsn R55 gen will fit and work. I have the instructions for this model so if You pm me with your email I can bung you a PDF. ::Neil::

Thanks, Neil! I'm guessing bad Generator, also. I've currently got it drowning in a Carburetor Cleaner Bath and I'll see what that does. Was hesitant to start taking it apart, not knowing what the insides are all about. I'd appreciate the Instructions, if you'd be kind enough to send them. I'll message you with my e-mail address.
    Thanks again!

Instructions sent. These actually may not help much because back in the day the solution to a poor generator was to buy a new one. Consequently they just tell you to replace the generator and don't tell you how to service it. ::Neil::
