Hi Found this one earlier this week and got it going today . The lights went out so the paint curing was done in a Valor oven using a Coleman 201 for heat. Andrew
@Andrew T Great work on the tank! Cheers Tony Edit: seeing this thing is so rare are you going to put detailed photos in the Reference Gallery?
Thank you. The forum would not let me download the as found photos which was just the fount, valve assembly and collar. The fount is dated B 40 The important parts were there to positively identify it(straight kerosene fuel pickup valve assembly and the collar Andrew
@Andrew T Congratulations getting the old girl looking her best. An excellent job reforming the logo on the font.
@Andrew T When Ross gets back from his well-earned holiday & the Newark gathering, I'm sure he'll start to sort both sites' performance issues. It's a bit clunky and slow for me, regardless of which platform I use. @phaedrus42 Are all of these "K" models in RSA? Cheers Tony
@phaedrus42 Thank you It was kind of you to let me get the lantern even though you knew what it was. Much appreciated. Andrew
Yes, all three around Western Cape Province. The first one was found by Thys and his son in a little town up the West Coast from Cape Town, the second one by Koos Barnard in Oudtshoorn (inland from George) and the third one by Andrew who got it from Cradock (not really Western Cape but not too far...)
Andrew, you first suspected what it was and I just helped you with positive ID. It was only fair that I did not compete with you for it. Besides, the excitement in helping confirm another one is sufficient. I'll find my own one some day
Didnt expect it to be quite so soon, though! I'll only receive it at the end of the month as part of a bunch of lamps I bought today
That's a nice haul Phil, but the one I'll be interested to hear about is the 1020. It looks to have a strange globe cage base and I can't really see what's happening with the uprights.
Nils, I think it has been butchered by someone. The pillars and wing nuts may have been added or modified later. There are two holes drilled through the upper hood for a wire bail. The globe rest has holes to secure a table lamp globe, like a 992 has. Was there ever a 1020 sized harp lamp similar to a 992?
It looks like this could have been a 1022 that has been converted to a lantern by adding a 1020 top. Shouldn't be too hard to convert it back again. The hardest part will be finding a globe. I think there are a couple of 1022 lamps in the gallery.
Ah, yes it is probably a 1022! As you say, the globes are almost impossible to find although I do already have a top cover. I may have to cut an electric globe even just for display. Plenty of those around in junk shops.
Well you might get lucky. Just ask if you need dimensions. To be honest I prefer the performance of the 992 to the 1022. The 1022 is just too noisy. It's nice to have one in the collection though. Another interesting one is what looks like a Radius 119, but the top looks unusual. It's well hidden though so it's hard to tell.
Nils, it is a Radius 119 without outer hood but with a red vent cap. I want to use the inner hood to complete a Radiosol, the vent cap will go to a friend who needs one, the bail is for my 2nd working 119 and the rest I will keep for parts.
Now I see. Well 119 spares are always good to have. Hopefully the collar isn't cracked, then that will be a very good spare to have.
If you have no place for the 339 I would be interested in providing it with a good home. A 119 pump assembly would be well looked after as well.
