I know you can buy a air/tire valve to pump air in your lanterns but they are pricey and i never had the need. tonight while working on a lantern with a tilley r55 hissing by my side i was going to pump my petromax up. In my bench drawer was a schrader valve for a car rim with the large rubber end that stay's inside the rim. I took the pump rod out of the lantern and lo and behold the schrader fit really tight in the pump tube! It took a bit to get the right grip on it while holding the lantern but it worked great! A pump cap might have to be bought so i can mount the valve in it for keeps. nice when testing lanterns if you need to fettle something and need to re pump again.
Hello Nagant, They are handy around the shop/barn. I bought one from southern lamp supply for 7.00 USD Part # 5V Link Jeff
Thanks for that link Jeff, i bought some of their parts. easy ordering and fast shipping. Didn't get that one though, just happened to be pumping away and the valve was laying in front of my nose!
