These are the as found pictures of my Coleman 427K. It's a bit grubby, but it'll clean up alright. Some shots fired up after cleaning, I will take some more pictures in daylight.
Matthew, that is an absolutely perfect post! Best kind of reference pictures we could demand; Many pics before any major things are done, thank you very much. A nice lantern it is. And it didn't turn up bad after a gentle clean-up.
Thanks Tony and Christer, I made sure I took some good shots before I started cleaning this time . The temptation to give the hood a wipe clean when I unpacked it was strong but I knew I must get pictures of its natural state before I did anything. It would appear that whoever used it last used petrol, the tank had a small amount in it which had gone stale and stank. It must have had a leak around the gland nut aswell as there was a tar like build up on the tank (see picture) I chipped it off and the nickel was nearly as bright as the day it was plated.
I remember to take the before photos just as I'm getting ready to take the "after" photos. Nice Mountie. Ernie
It's in good company now, with my recently acquired primus 1020 and my 237, I quite like the look of these chrome fount green hood lanterns. Sorry if the picture is upside down or round the wrong way. Or not displaying at all as seems to be the case when I post from my iPad these days.
Mmm don't remind me Thnx for the gesture tho Matt P.s one minute I was 20, then I was 50 !!! How the flip does it go so fast
Hahaha, I know the feeling. If it makes you feel better, those three lamps above have 233 years between them.
Happy birthday, Ray - I've just spotted the cake! If it's any consolation, I must have been doing my mock GCEs when you were being born...
@Matthew92 A very nice example, well done on the restoration and light up. These Coleman lanterns are amongst my favourites and it’s great to see another one restored well. Cheers Pete
