Hi, Can anyone tell me about the Standard 5032A lantern I picked up today at a boot sale? It looks very much like a Radius 101. The only markings I can find is on the valve wheel. It is lacking a globe & the whole inner hood but, other than that seems to be complete and not in bad condition. Do you know if there is a source for parts either genuine or equivalent? Any help would be much appreciated. regards
Hi Roy, if you post some photos it would be easier to help you. As you said the lantern looks similar to a Radius 101 (or a small Hasag, Petromax or similar?). I would guess that it is a pre-war product, and if you search the reference gallery here you'll find three of them in it. If it's the same lantern that you have it will be difficult to find fitting peplacement parts. The only thing you could try to do is modifying some parts of the known 150HK types that are still available. BR, Martin K.
Thanks for the reply. Here are a few pictures of the lamp. Having measured the cage, a Petromax HK150 glass will fit. Regarding the inner hood, the seating on the cage is 80mm diameter, the hood internally is about 65mm over all, overhanging lip is 10mm, widest part above is around 25mm & top section is 30mm. The Petromax inner hood looks good but I cannot find any specific measurements to confirm that. Hope someone can fill in some gaps! regards
Hi Roy, I will try to make a picture and get some measurements on the 150 inner hood tomorrow. I fitted them successfully to a Petromax "Little Baby" and also to the small 100HK Ditmar lanterns. So I think it should work on your Standard as well. But I can promise you that you won't be able to find a drop-in jet and needle. However, there's a way to adapt (by some modifications) the components that are sold today. But the quality of the todays 150HK jets is poor. BTW: The top cap also seems to be missing on your lantern. BR, Martin K.
... now here are some pictures of the inner hood. The measurements suggest that it should fit. BR, Martin K.
Thanks Martin, That certainly looks a fit. I am waiting on some bits for a Coleman QL327 which should arrive in the next couple of days, so will focus on finishing that one first and then have a go at this lamp in earnest! Thanks again for your help and taking the time to send me these measurements. I will let you know how it goes and post a photo when I (hopefully) get it running. best regards
