Not tried any on a Q99 generator but i soak all my Coleman type generators in automotive brake cleaner (worked very well on an R55) for however long is needed and so far its worked well and as an added bonus it dries quickly,
i remove the tip and every now and then i grip them with a pair of long nose pliers and agitate whilst submerged, beware of hitting the pricker wire on the edge of the container like i did first time round

IMG_1912.JPG The Fred Kuntz globe arrived today and looks great I did not want to go for an over restored look but it's loads better than when I found it and it works!

    Excellent!

    A very fine, straightforward lantern.

I'm glad you've got it running.

    Best regards

@MG the globe looks great but worked out rather more expensive than I thought with import tax at nearly £15 so be aware of that when ordering.
Only took a couple of weeks to arrive Fred Is very efficient.
I am going to strip it down again as I think I have a leak between the riser tube and tank. It gives a good light. Lighting it can be a bit exciting to say the least!
    Cheers Nick

@Nick Powell thanks for letting me know, mine isn't in a terrible state but those new ones do look good!

The leak didn't show up on the dunk test then, i test all my lamps especially the gas ones for peace of mind,

Haha yes mine was exciting when i tried it too, i open the valve very slowly now!

@MG to be honest I did not do dunk test always I spray diluted washing up liquid and watch for bubbles.
