I got given this little lantern by the wife of an elderly gentleman that passed. All she could tell me about it was that her husband bought it new and used it well over the years! She was quite happy to see it going to a good home It did not require a lot of cleaning and I suspect that this is not the original colour, looking at the gallery I see that these were normally a more metallic lighter colour. It does have some slight dents in the tank, but the paint is in overall good condition. When cleaning it up, I had to replace the NRV pip and clean the generator, had quite a lot of carbon build-up. The frame had some rust, which came off quite nicely. The inside of the tank looks good with some rust on the bottom that I removed with a soak in warm citric acid and some sheet metal screws being used to loosen the rust flakes. The result was good and when tested, no leaks or issues with the integrity of the tank. I did not take pictures of the dissasembly, but below some of the assembled lantern including it lit and running. These lanterns are quite bright and I find that it runs more quietly compared to my 242B. I like this lantern and it will definitely be my new favourite! Thanks for looking!
An excellent find, Jaco! Except for the paint (which can be easily remedied) it is actually in very good condition. A definite keeper!
Thanks all, One thing I noticed is that the globe is unmarked and seems to be slightly narrower, less of a bulge than the Coleman globes, could this have been a replacement from a local manufacturer maybe? There are no markings on it and it is slightly thicker with some swirl marks in it? Well it is not cracked and in good condition, so suppose its fine
