I am a relative new guy to these forums. I have been using a Bialaddin bowlfire to heat me whilst working in the garage and all has been good for the last two years. However recently it was not burning very hot until i used the needle several times at which it burnt very hot for a few hours. Last time i used it, it slowly became weaker until it popped out. Thinking it was empty i was surprised to see plenty of fuel left in it. Now it won't light.

I took the vaporiser off and pulled the needle out and the middle of it was very choked up with soot. Upon banging the vaporiser, paraffin poured out with an amount of black sludge as well. So all this leads me to think the vaporiser is clogged up. Can i fix this or do i need a new vaporiser?

Thoughts and help as usual appreciated.

The cleaning wire can be cleaned, but do not touch the point as they break easily and it is possible to clear some of the carbon from the vapouriser.

However, those vapourisers do have a finite working life and they need to be replaced from time to time and if you do replace the vapouriser it's best to keep the cleaning wire from your old one so that you have a spare.
