Hi everyone. This Bialladian 300x is for sale locally. I've been interested in it for quite a while but the seller was asking a lot of money initially. He's dropped his price 33% and I'm thinking of placing an offer on it. Considering I'm in Western Canada and Bialladins rarely show up, I'll probably put an offer on it. But before I do, I was wondering if the paint job on it is correct? I've looked at Terry Marsh's lamp reference gallery and it appears that the paint job does look correct. What does the V on the fuel wheel indicate? Thank you. Shane
Hi Shane, When the V looks like a V, the cleaning needle is down. When the V is upside down, the needle is up. The lantern looks to be in good condition for its age, it shouldn't take much work to get it running. Henry.
That colour combination looks correct - horrible, but correct! Here's a link to one of mine:- 1946-51 Bialaddin 300X To my eye, the maroon and red clash awfully, but then I've not much idea of colour. I've also seen them in maroon with a black hood which is easier on my eye, although I've no idea if that was the way they left the factory. I wouldn't be too bothered about the colour if they're rare where you live. They're solid, reliable, well-engineered lanterns and, as Henry says, it probably won't take much fettling...
