    Hi!

I have a Optimus 200, 930 and a Radius 102 that I use att the huntinglodge(inside). The problem is that after some hours the tank get so hot that you barely can touch them, so then I shut them down affraid that something bad will happen.
How hot does a tank normaly get and is there any danger with the tank heating up?

First off, welcome to the forum.

The smaller lanterns are known for getting hot, especially the 930, but they don't get hot enough to be a safety issue. They can get quite hot, but I have never heard of any getting that hot that the kerosene would boil which is where it would be dangerous. You usually find that as the fuel level drops, more of the tank feels hot as it is not being "cooled" by the fuel. Bottom line is that even though they get hot it shouldn't be a problem.

    Ok. Thanks for the respons.
Good to hear, I have a pressure gauge on one of them and the pressure hasn't increased wich I guess it will do if the kerosene is geting close to boiling point?

They are designed to heat up. This helps to maintain pressure and reduce the need to pump during use. ::Neil::

If you are concerned about the temperature, you could make a heat shield for them, they do help. I have a Petromax 829 and a Hipolito 500 that for temperature sake I made the heat shields with some stainless steel sheet I had, they look good, easy to make with a Dremel tool.

I think the optimus come with heat deflectors as i recall. However, the tank will still warm.
