Tilley Special Modification Kit , 992 Cover without Glass, A group of 4 parts | eBay

No more than my own opinion, of course, but this just doesn't look 'right' to me - it's too 'top-heavy' in my view. It's not cheap either but I guess there's a fair bit of research, design and engineering to be paid for. How available are those glass globes and at what cost, I wonder.

As well as the various adaptations such as the above, they also seem to be producing and selling their own versions of various Tilley products from the past e.g. Kite VL1s for about £450. Happily there is no attempt to deceive and these are very easily distinguishable from the real thing... :D/

    Hello David

This glass is for viewing purposes, some people like this glass, so someone made it in Taiwan, the seller's label is not TILLEY original, in addition VL1 may be too scarce, I think the seller does not intend to be confused, so there is a label Description, new, made in Taiwan.

I did a Google translate on the Chinese post, and come up with the text above.

Yes, that's exactly what I said - "Happily there is no attempt to deceive..." :)
