Does anyone know if a UK source for these? The ones that are available are all from the States but have a massive shipping cost. Alternatively, would any of my wonderful American CPL acquaintances feel like buying one and then sending it to me... if I pay of course! I can't imagine putting a small item like this in a padded envelope can really cost more that the Lamp cost me in the first place! In-box me if you would and I'll send the money. I have to say, I haven't even had it lit yet and it might work first time but having read about the 201 in the forum, it's beginning to look as though it will need a new generator at some point and I'd rather be prepared.
That's all well and good, Jeff, but check out their shipping policy - $25 to Japan and although the cost of shipping to the UK is unspecified, you can probably bet your last dime it'll be there or thereabouts and maybe even more. International shipping costs are a complete pain these days and in my experience, many US suppliers seem unwilling even to consider sending stuff overseas, never mind the price...
I could get one and send to you Colin...might take a week or two Agreed David...the US is a pain to deal with when it comes to Postal services and vendors not really wanting to deal with the hassle Scott
From the many transactions that I have made personally, they are excellent to deal with Jeff I don't have any experience dealing with them internationally though...
OCP are very good to deal with, they supplied me with a 201 generator but i wasn't really in a rush and i didn't want to pay the postal charges so he asked one of his regular UK customers' if they wouldn't mind posting it on to me so it came via Scotland and i just paid UK postage
Mike at OCP is one of the good guys. I have bought a few parts from him and the service has always been exceptional. Yes mail costs are vile but that's just the price you have to pay. You can't complete a UK order on line because the web site will not recognise a UK address but a couple of emails and Mike will quote you for overseas mailing. Always the first place I look to for Coleman parts. Not let me down yet. ::Neil::
Thanks for all the invaluable information guys... I now have a kind US member looking out for one or more 201 generators to purchase and send on my behalf and the good comments I hear about OCP are a useful addition to my trusted fettling sources!
Base-Camp.co.uk had them at £15 + postage the last time I looked. edit: Seems they are temporarily out of stock. May be worth waiting until they have some more, buying from a U.K. distributor eliminates HM customs and horse thieving b******s jumping on the packet. Henry.
Aye, once anything gets into that Mount (un)Pleasant Sorting Office that's £25 on the bill plus any duty they care to levy and at least 2 days delay in delivery. Bar stewards. Grrr...
A dear friend once sent me one of her wonderful paintings from Puerto Rico (she's a very talented artist IMHO) and because she had filled in the section marked cost at $40 I was charges £25 before they would let me have it! It was a bloody gift from her to me and my wife! Bar Stewards as you say! Here is the painting Marisol sent me. To be honest I love this painting so much and would have pain a lot more to get it safely home to my house but still, £25 to receive a gift... from a friend!
Oh and the artists name is Marisol Manzano. She paints in the Modern Primitive style and I love her work. If I was rich I'd buy a gallery and fill it with her work! Marisol Manzano the painter
