    Here is the photographic evidence of the Great Ballarat Floodlight Light-up of 2017.

    Lighted on the evening were 27 floodlights (including the Tilley "Big Bertha") plus three ring-ins.

    And, oh! We accidentally left this one out of the light-up...

    I have many other photos of the rest of the people, stoves and lamps that came to join the fun. I will add them to this thread later when I get the chance to edit the rest of the pics.

    Cheers

    @shagratork

    As far as I know, Bernie Holmes and a crew of lamplighters lit 14 (or maybe 15) FL6s one night in Melbourne many years ago.

    That’s one of the reasons he came along with his own contribution - to outdo the Aussie record.

    Cheers

    Until next June 1st-3rd maybe! - as long as Big Bertha counts as only one, we've surely got a chance!

    Excellent pix, Tony and as Ross says, it's great to put names to faces - Kerry looks nothing like I imagined him! I don't suppose Matty was there, was he? In connection with the names/faces thing, it'll be great to see a picture of the notoriously shy and elusive Mr Carlsson one of these days, though I'm not holding my breath! :lol:

    @David Shouksmith

    Matty was not there - it’s a long way from where he lives to Ballarat.

    As it was, I drove/was ferried a bit under 900 kilometres to get there; Martin drove a bit over 1000 kilometres.

    Cheers

    Thanks Tony, this being such a small country, it's difficult to comprehend just how far apart everything is in Oz. America's just the same for me. Other countries also...

    Thanks for explaining Tony. For me, the drive is 19 h 13 min (1,822.8 km) via M31 and Pacific Hwy/A1. Not that far off 2,000k! and that's just to get there.

    I would have considered it if I didn't have to pick my daughter up from Brisbane airport tomorrow. She has just boarded a plane at Heathrow.

    I must say, the photo's are stupendous. It looks like some seriously good gear was on show during the gathering. All those that attended the gathering and set the record should be very well pleased with themselves and for each other.

    It is quite clear Anthony went to a great deal of effort to make those that attended as comfortable as he could. Considering the farm is in the 'sticks' and it is a work in progress, Anthony has done brilliantly.

    I hope that gatherings like this one at Anthony's will become at least an annual thing. As the word spreads, attendance should increase each year.

    Don't give up hope entirely.
    One of these days it might actually happen.
    There should, however, already be a photo of me somewhere at CCS.:-k
    I know I posted a pic of me standing next to my van, taking a wee dram, as we stopped briefly at the border between England and Scotland.

    Nah, I wasn't commenting on your looks, Kerry, just saying you were nothing like how I'd pictured you in my mind's eye. You are pretty dishy, though... :^o

    By the way, where's the corks on your hat? ;) :lol:

    G’day all,

    Thanks @Anthony for hosting a great weekend and making everyone feel so welcome. I can hole heartedly agree with everyone’s comments. As Tony mentioned I had a way to go. All up I covered 2,446 km ( 1520 miles) and it was worth the drive to attend.

    It was good to meet @kerry460 , @Lamp_Doctor (Bob), @Tony Press , Burnie and the other blowins during the day. Thanks for a great weekend.

    Here are some photos from the trip.

    Getting there.

    The car was full but camp was a swag on the ground next to the car.

    I must say I too had a great weekend.
    Our displays were not for people walking past tables having passing looks but for lamp collectors inviting other lamp collectors to pick things up and have a real good look. That was the best part of the weekend as far as I am concerned.

    You guys were a pleasure to have around, lets do it again next year :)
