This lantern has a pressed steel uncoated vent. The fount/tank is pressed steel. It was electrified when I got it and now has a homemade burner tube using 16 mm stainless steel tubing, half a Coleman 241/242 burner tube and a Coleman 339 burner cap. The bail is an exact match to a Coleman 249 and the pump tube seems to have been replaced with a euro style pump tube with a smaller diameter than the fount/tank has. The vent is different to any US lanterns I have seen. The fount was originally red and the collar possibly black with the vent unknown as paint burns off. I fitted a Coleman 201 generator, spirit cup and generator nut. I fitted a Coleman 201 bail as it fits better with the vent. Thanks Andrew
@JEFF JOHNSON Hi Jeff . It’s not a Coleman. This one only has a single air tube . There are five small holes around a central one on the vent compared to the Coleman’s four. I have some Coleman 241’s. Andrew
I agree that it is not Coleman. AGM and/or Sunflame also made an economy model along the lines of the Coleman 241 series. The single air tube, narrow vent brim and design of the base plate also indicate that it is related to SF or AGM.
Nice job. The old South African saying "n' boer maak n' plan" is true in this case. Translated "a farmer makes a plan"
That is an AGM vent. The lantern was probably 3006 or 2750. Has the wrong pricker operator wire though and the pump looks wrong as well. So interesting but a much messed about hybrid. ::Neil::
