I HAVE A "SEARS" DOUBLE MANTEL GAS LANTERN i BELIEVE MADE BY COLEMAN IN 1964. i NEED REPLACEMENT PARTS TO MAKE IT FUNCTIONAL. IT HASN'T BEEN USED SINCE THE MID 70'S. IT WILL NOT HOLD PRESSURE.

Hello Jack and welcome to the forum.

Unless your lantern has been run over by a truck, the most likely cause is that the filler cap gasket has either perished or has become rock hard. Alternatively, the ball bearing in the check valve is stuck. Pump plenty of air into the font then hold it under water, air bubbles will tell you where it's leaking air. If the filler cap has a screw in the centre (three piece), you just need a new gasket, if it's a one piece cap you may be able to change the gasket but if not, you'll need a new cap - check out OldColemanParts.com

If it's leaking from the check valve, put some carburetter cleaner down the pump barrel and let it soak overnight, this will dissolve any varnish like fuel residues and free the ball bearing.

    Henry.

Sears twin from 1964 is either 7406 or 7407. Both have Red tanks with either narrow or wide black hood. These are essentially Coleman 220/228 E lanterns but with a flatter tank rather like the one for 275. So any parts you need will be for Coleman 220E. These should be readily available as Henry says.

Should just be the cap gasket, they are easy enough to change out. If it gives you trouble, try to burn it out with a torch. I can usually get them out with a dental pick.
