I got this one many months ago and this afternoon I decided to fettle it and put it to use.
I'd quite forgotten how nice these little lanterns are. Won't forget again any time soon!

Damn nice lantern, Phil. Can I ask how you got the lovely elongated shape on the mantle and which brand it is?

What else ;). I have some old stock thoriated Lancaster Brand 24A mantles that were made by Peerless. They turned out to be just the right size. My second choice would have been a vintage Veritas Elephant Brand mantle but I only have a few of them left.

The mantle is the sock type so it tends to form that way by default. A trick to make most mantles form a bit bigger is to let them cool completely after burn-off before first lighting.
