Here is comparison of an original Handi glass compared to two aftermarket reproductions.

    1476790292-1_opt.jpg

Left – Original glass from a Handi Kero- Pet.
    Marked Handi Pyrex.

Middle – Supplied by TJ Sands in Melbourne. Link
Marked Schott Suprax, Made in Germany

Right – Supplied by EBay seller theoillampcompany Link in Melbourne
Marked Handi (No manufacturer details). Made from high temperature Borosilicate Glass

    Dimensions (mm)

    ___________Original__TJ Sands___theoillampcompany
    O/D top_____100.6_____98.5______99.0
    O/D bottom__99.5_____102.5______99.0
    Height______109.5____110.4______109.2

    Comments:
The glass sold by TJ Sands is obviously different in shape to the original but fitted all 3 lanterns that I have.
The glass sold by theoillampcompany is slightly smaller in diameter than the original and fitted two of the three lanterns. However if I turned the glass upside down it fitted all three. The glass caught on the air tube supports and would not sit flat. This was due to the thickness of the glass around the rim. Top thickness 2.5 mm , Bottom thickness 3.5 mm and the smaller overall diameter.
(IMO)Both reproductions looked to be good quality and there were no air bubbles in either glass.
The difference in cost between the replica glass was negligible.
Note: The glass was tried on the grey hood Kero- Pet Lantern and I believe there is a difference from the black hood Kero- Pet lantern. The glass from TJ Sands is marked “not for Black Kero- Pet”.

Good to see the details. I have seen the ones on ebay a few times and wondered about them.

The one from Sands looks like it must be for another lamp. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have convinced Schott to produce a small number of glasses. Last I heard, you could order whatever you wanted from Schott but it had to be a minimum of a full days production.

Nils, you may be right and the comment was that they had trouble getting glass made.
As a side note TJ Sands sell this glass as a replacement for the Gloria as well. But I don't have one to try it on.

    @Mickoztas

G'day Mick, Welcome to CPL. I've been away and just catching up.
No, the Handi glass is too big in diameter and hight to fit on the 201 / 249 etc.
