Hi Bought this dusty lamp after success with a Petromax. After some cleaning it appears as as Høvik Verk standard no 101. 1. The globe is cracked right through the logo. Still able to make out "S***DARD HØ*** VERK" Replacement globes at Fogas.se and stoga-Cabana, but is there anyone out there with a glass with the right logo? 2. Major issue when lighting up. Leak through the joint where the mixing tube joins the fuel tube. Highlighted with red rod in picture. Is there anyone with user manual or experience with the HV ? Best regards Bjørn
Congratulations on the lamp. That is the first variation of the HV 102. 1. You're in the right country to find a glass with the old style logo. I would expect that they will be very hard to find. Possibly you can find a glass with the later logo. 2. What is leaking from the joint? This joint is above the jet, so it should only be gas that is coming from there (if there is a leak). If it is liquid, then it is not hot enough.
2. The lamp was probably not hot enough. I have problems disassembling it, so if you have any tips they are welcome
It's a bit hard to be specific about disassembly. Just start at the top and work your way down. Don't force things as parts are not easy to find. Stuck threaded joints can be freed by heating and quenching, but that is only applicable where the heat cannot damage anything else.
Glued the original glass while searching for replacement. Had to add metal screen which the original owner made to cover missing glass. Spent extra time pre-heating (used two cups alkohol) and the lamp lit up fine
With which adhesive? I've used Glassbond in the past and it's done a good job on ornamental bottles and the like, but it's not heat resistant...
Learning experience: Well - Loctite repair extreme is supposedly temperature resistant, but it did NOT hold up.
