    Hi all!

I have a Optimus 1551 (Chinamus) i was happy with, but now it comes flames from the mantle if I turn the cleaning knob with arrow pointing down. Initially it worked fine, it could be lit for many hours. My problem occured when i wanted to pump up more preassure then the ceramic nozzle broke.
I then bought a new one made of stainless.
Now I cannot get a perfect light from it, if i go as before (knob with arrow pointing down) there comes lots of flames.
It have been completely cleansed before the ceramic nozzle broke and a new needle.

Any ideas for adjustments and such?

    Regards Matti Kucer, Sweden

    Mvh Matti Kucer

Here, a pic from before the ceramic nozzle broke

Your pic does not show up.
Have you checked the air gap?

Revert to a ceramic burner if you can. The SS burner has a tendency to come loose. Then check that the new nozzle is tightened sufficiently, kerosene may be seeping out.

I can not imagine that the pressure will break a ceramic burner head.

Did you put the right size jet and needle on ?
Did you check the new parts for defects like remains of dirt or so ?
Is the needle down when the knob points down ?
How far is the needle up through the jet ?
Do you have checked the pressure with a calibrated one ?

If the ceramic burner cap was loose the shaking and vibration of pumping could have caused it to fall off.
I put a dab of Holts Firegum on the threads of the burner cap. It is white with the consistency of tooth paste.
I have not had one come loose yet, out of dozens of lamps and many hundreds of burning hours.

Also good for sealing worn or leaky threads on hot parts like Primus 1001 air tubes, old Tilley burners etc.

    Hi all!
I'm now sitting outside in my garden listening to Eurovision on radio enyoying the restored bright light of my lantern. The stainless nozzle has been tightened with exhaust system fitting compound and the pipes has been straightened a bit. The lantern has been working flawless since oround 8 a clock in the evening and still working (11:45 in the evening now) . I'm now also enyoying my Primus no 5 s:or stove and some whiskey.
