hello all I need some help from specialists of swedich lamps here is a radius 119 lamp I think the filler cap is not the good one !!?? Who knows the lamp this filler cap comes from thanks Michel
Hello Michel. I agree with you, it does not look like a radius 119 filler cap. I belive it's a filler cap from a blowlamp or stove. best regards Joakim
Hello Michel, Well spotted. That isn't the filler cap for a lantern at all. There isn't 1 filler cap as Radius made more than just one, but the most common on your lantern and the same radius 119's is this: (posted by David Shouksmith) Radius 119 with cook-top
Hello Michel Radius has made a 119 with that cap. http://www.fogas.se/rwdx/files//115-119s.jpg The most common is the safteycap, they have also used a cap with a airskrew in the cap.(see pic) Conny
I have seen that parts list before, but have never actually seen a 119 with that filler cap. So far I have only seen them with the filler cap with wings and the integral pressure relief screw (approx 1930 - 1933), a filler cap with a high dome for the built in pressure relief valve and wings (1934), the same as before but without wings (1934 - 1940s) and the last type of pressure relief valve with low top (1940s - end of production). If you go to the reference gallery you will see examples of most of these types.
From what I can see of the lamp in the picture, it has the plastic wheel so will most likely have a red enamell top or the flat 'cook top' of the civil defence version. If this is the case, then it is most liekly from the 1950s. Btw, it will have had the low top pressure relief valve filler cap.
A classic example of an early 1950s Radius 119. Looks good and works very well. It's still possible that the filler cap is correct, I just havn't seen one on a lamp before.
