Some of you might remember I purchased what u thought was a Vapalux 320 only to find out that it was an X246b fount with the top half of the Vapalux mounted on top. Well, I was left with a shiny Tilley fount so with some parts I had lying around I created this...

Now, this might look OK and it would be even better with a globe but look closely at the next image...

The control cock assembly has been put on wonky. It's only a few degrees out of true but it's pretty annoying!

ah, who cares about a few degrees wonky?
Much more drawn to the ginger pussy cat. Great background!

This is Callie, short for Calciferol, our youngest cat of the 5 we have. He's a sweet, loving little chap so long as you're not a mouse, vole or rat! He hunts all night, sleeps all day and we love him to bits!

Apart from 5 cats we have 2 ferrets, one gecko and several trillion midgies.

If you mean it's too close to one of the globe cage uprights, then that's not at all difficult to correct.

I'll swop you that cat for a Tilley globe - I may have something of a stockpile resulting from scrapping two dozen X246Bs that somehow ended up living here...

I might be tempted by your offer but my wife would leave me in a heartbeat if I gave Callie away! However, if there's anything else you might want, I'm open to suggestions. I have that Coleman table lamp I posted about, a Tilley radiator fount, a steal PL53 fount with handle but not much else... or there's always money of course! Let me know.

As for the speculum fount, the central 'boss' (where the fuel uptake tube and filter have been fitted) is off centre by a few millimetres. Tilley's quality control must have been non-existent to let it pass- either that or they made their lamps without any actual measurement at all!

Cat for Globe swap? No way!
Globe - made for using, buying or selling.
Cats- No, we didn't make them? They have evolved with us - some like them and some really do not.
They think their gods (anag) are better.. Off topic - I'm out of here!!

You may find that 24 cats require more storage space and upkeep than 24 Tilley globes. I can just imagine the headline in the Sun "RSPCA Raids eccentric Lamp Hoarder and Removes 24 Cats":lol:

Seriously, my mum was a cat lady. When I was young, there was one point where Mum and Dad had 15 cats!!! It was kind of an accident, but still. I can even remember most of their names! My 5 pale into insignificance compared to that!

Oh, and my cats name is Calcifer, not Calciferol. I have no idea what that even is but my phone seemed to have a mind of it's own.

We have our hands full here with just the one. Cannot imagine keeping house with 15 like her...

It's vitamin D if I recall correctly. I thought it was an odd name for a cat but I just thought you were a retired biochemist (or the predictive text on your phone was crap...) ;) :)

Yes, she's 2 years old and weighs about 6kg. She loves chasing the 45kg labrador out of his bed in the middle of the night, and guess whose bed he wants then...

    @ColinG

I also thought you must have been very keen on chemistry or nutrition!

Calcifer suits her better! Cool name.

Lucifer might be a better name - if you're a mouse, vole or rat... ;)
