A newcomer friend has got me out of my shell, wanted to see a lantern running . Only fuel I had on hand was citronella oil .........
@Handi-man Don’t run it too long on citronella oil; and give your vapouriser a shot of carburettor cleaner when you’ve finished. Cheers Tony
So called citronella oil is just a concoction of the smelly residues of production of "better fuels". Ad some cheap scent and call it "anti-moskito" (a claim which, btw, was outlawed in the EU for being demonstrably false). It is a smart way to sell otherwise unmarketable bad stuff. Erik
Hi Tony Yes I guess it's not the ideal lantern fuel but I can get bottles of it it for free ! The kero here is 6 bucks a litre and it's that horrible Diggers stuff.
@Handi-man My guess is the additives in citronella oil will form carbon in your vapouriser much quicker than Diggers kero. So give your vapouriser a good clean with carburettor cleaner pretty regularly. Cheers Tony
