    New acquisition to collection has finally arrived, and like every other piece that comes my way, the NRV and leather pump cup is no longer up to operating standard. 5FEF09FA-AA50-4BE7-A214-CD1D244C0448.jpeg AF1444DF-5425-43D2-BD63-F7B4E4DEA5DD.jpeg
    Can anyone tell me how to date this little B21? I see no obvious date markings.
    Also, what amount of brasso fumes can you inhale before something nasty happens to your body?

    Sorry chaps, I meant for this post to go on the ‘stoves’ forum.
    Is there a way to move it across??

    Yes, I think it’s easy on the eye. A cracker of a little 1940’s stove!

    I hope not.
    Way too many people want to talk about anything and everything but stoves.
    Also there are those who want to push their political views.

    @Mustlust

    So you bought that! Good stuff.

    Go to CCS and see my thread about fettling one of these.

    @WimVe

    As a regular participant in both CPL and CCS, I think combining the two sites would be extremely problematic. I like the fact that you can go to one or the other.

    Cheers

    Tony

    Well said David, well said indeed.

    It would be very nice to keep this forum about lanterns.

    I'm a member of both CPL and CCS and as Norman said, the stove site has a few individuals who delight in what I can only call trolling! I still visit CCS but quite honestly, the fuss that some individuals have caused over there is depressing and has taken some of the fun out of it for me, which is a great shame. So combining both sites....? I'd rather not. People here are generous, civil and well informed. There are some good members on CCS and I count some as my friend but until the trolls are dealt with, their site is tarnished.

    I can understand the feeling, though I think the storm is more about protocol than actual politics.

    That's one smart little stove. Is it really brass? It almost looks like nickel plate. Brasso fumes - basically ammonia, though it's never bothered me.

    Hi Colin, @ColinG you may have noticed quite a few of us frequent both CPL and CCS, CCS being where it all started. They also have more members. And I fully agree, not all of them are nice people. The best thing to do is to ignore the trolls and enjoy the good friendship and huge knowledge of the other members. You will notice that people who are the most helpful (I'll only give 2 examples, gentlemen like George "Kerophile" and John "Presscall" but there are an awful lot more like them) don't respond/react to any trolling action. I must admit, it also annoys me and I sometimes post something "tongue in cheek" but the best modus operandi is to just ignore the trolls. Don't stop visiting/posting on CCS! I think you are a nice chap so don't give in to the trolls.
    In the past, moderators have stopped discussions like the one going on now, if they feel things are going to far they will also take action this time.

    All the best,

    Wim

    You're right, there are some great guys over there (and some lassies too maybe?) so I keep visiting the site because it makes me happy! I haven't posted anything over there for a while but my new Ghillie Kettle might be due for it's time in the spotlight! ...and thanks for saying I'm a nice chap... very nice if you to say so!

    @WimVe

    Your words seem to suggest that CCS was started after Be-Back-Later.

    You are correct in saying that CPL took the place of Be-Back-Later for lamps.
    That was because Be-Back-Later was a very poor site and something on the lines of CCS was needed for lanterns/lamps.

    CPL is now the most successful lamp/lantern site in the world.

    Uh, well, I seem to recall the International Guild of Lamp Researchers pre-dated BBL to be precise... ;) :lol:

    Remember this, Wim..?
