Try with a .jpg (.jpeg) instead. .png is not supported. If you don't have any photoeditor, you can always use an online converter. Like this one, just to mention one. If you still have troubles, give me a PM.
Here is a few photos if anyone can tell me more about these Colem Mantles. Are these rare ? Cant find any info about them, i have 20 new sealed untouched. Regards Darren
Well, there are no others pictured in the Mantle Gallery and you can find no other information about them on the Interwebbly thing so it's probable they're rare. Maybe they're collectible to someone who collects mantles and wants one to complete their collection. Valuable? (if that's what you're driving at) - I very much doubt it...
Thankyou David, i just like to collect lamps & Mantles and anything coleman to do with lamps. Just thoight you guys on this forum might have seen these around. Maybe not valuable but it has got me asking questions about the history of them. Gotta be some info on them somewhere. Anyway thankyou for your reply. Regards Darren
As I said, there are no images of Colem mantles in the Gallery so the probability is you're the first member to come across them - maybe someone else has examples but they've not got round to posting images of them yet, but it's a 50/50 chance. My guess would be that these are single tie mantles for 500cp lanterns (as described on the packet). As such, they're ten-a-penny and the manufacturer is irrelevant once they're out of the packer, fitted to a lantern and lit. Having said that, it's good to know the company / brand existed so many thanks for the images and the background information - it's all 'grist to the mill' and may well help someone's researches in the future...
Thankyou David, looking at the lantern pictures on the front of the mantles reminds me of the Col-max lantern, a Coleman made in Hong Kong in the 1950’s, a copy of the Petromax. The mantles and this model of lamp, both made in Hong Kong, are related, hence their relative scarcity, as the lamps are few and far between. The semi-clear packaging on the mantles is from the same era, and typical of the Hong Kong productions made for Coleman. Anyway I will keep digging getting further. Regards Darren
Since you've mentioned this, I happened to have a few mantles that's "PINEAPPLE BRAND" by Maya M.&T.Co.,Ltd. Singapore. It looks old in waxed paper packets. Has anyone here came across this before? I have no idea about Colem mantles.
Photographs of those mantle packets and any others should be added to the mantle forum which is shown via the link below. Mantles
Very nice lamp David thats a keeper for sure. Im guessing it will be hard to get your hands on one of these now. Hi MYN, yep never heard of those as well. They do sound old 500cp ?
Yes, I've lighted a couple of them. About as bright or white as any radioactive Thorium mantles I've ever tried. Can't recall exactly where I got them from. But vaguely, it was some years back together with some Butterfly ones from an old, run-down sundry shop.
My Colmax sadly has a pin hole in the fount so I can't light it. Maybe one day I'll get some sealant to repair it..... One day...... Best regards, Wim
I'll prefer to solder that up instead of using any sealants. If you're careful or have the skills, brazing it off would be even better.
Well, I have insufficient priveleges to post that in the mantles section. Someone else might want help do that?
