This is a 300cp gasoline lantern which has two control wheels; one for operating the pricker and the other to operate a needle valve shut off. I am not certain of the age but I do have one catalogue dated 1939 which lists this model and from the fibre type controls I think this example will be from before WW2 so 1939 is perhaps as close as I can call it.
I finally made this antique work. Evil beast to fettle because I had to dismantle the hood five or six times before I could get the mixture any where near right. I changed the jet and pricker so it is running here with a 350cp Petromax jet and not very well but it lives. One thing I am not sure of is the air gap. I know what it should be for kero lanterns but for these it is less and I had to guess. I think I have it now at about 9mm but it would be nice to know what the gaps for gasoline lamps of this type are. ::Neil::
